Introduction to My weekly Blog on folk Magic
Hello,
As this is my first post, I will give a short introduction about myself. My name is Karina I am in my 30s and I have been pagan now since I was around 15 years old. I have followed many paths searching for what was right for me which include Wicca, Druidism, Heathenry, hedge witchery and Buddhism. It wasn't until meeting my amazing partner that I found the path of folklore magic, cunning folk, wise men and women of old and the term Traditional Witchcraft, a term I will explore further in the future and what it means to me. I have joined a coven which before was never an option as I found most covens or groups very political, dogmatic and heavily hierarchical. I was always looking for what was the right path for me for many years as many pagans do. A kind of soul searching and realisation of one's self, as a person within the craft. I made many friends and used to assist in the running of a local moot until I experienced pagan camps.
Pagan camps are an amazing way to network if you are soul searching. they are a great way to find yourself and other people who may be similar to you and offer what you are looking for. If it wasn't for these wonderful camps, I wouldn't have my amazing partner and be involved in the craft in such a way i have been yearning for.
After my last camp of last year. I had met the man of my dreams AND found the path that I had been yearning for all these years. Even though it meant I was joining a coven which I was at first apprehensive about after the bad experiences I have had in the past. This path was folk magic of old. looking back into history into witchcraft and how people used to heal, conjure, charms and chants of old and it excited me. It actually thrilled me and a fire inside of me was lit.
Reading books by Cecil Williamson, Gemma Gary, Peter Paddon just to name a few, who I will blog on in further detail another day. Reading history of my local ancestry and learning about the area I moved to from my hometown was exciting to say the least.
So there you have it a brief short intro about myself and how i came to this amazing path within paganism.
Now about this blog and why. Well i thought it would be nice for me to share with you the amazing findings I have learned along the way, with references from authors and historians and recommendations of books spells and charms etc. I want to share the knowledge of others without being misleading or lies or plagiarising someone else's work as my own like you find on Facebook and other sites these days. I am not doing this for personal gain but seeing so many Pagans out there who are disillusioned by the craft and how Facebook is ruining Authors by copy and paste and share on articles from the internet. I felt it was time to start my weekly blog to help people who want to know more about folk magic and the cunning ways of old.
Please feel free to contact me with any subject you wish to see on here and I would be happy to help.
Beltane is fast approaching and I write this before the full moon of April 2016 therefore I wish you all blessings and I hope you come back again.
Next week I will be talking about:
Mayday traditions in the UK, Beltane and its origins.
Many thanks
Karina
