Weekly just tured into monthly, a busy recap of a wise woman.
Hello again and sorry!
Sorry for my lateness in writing this as I have been busy reading new books, visiting new places and helping many people with their needs.
So I aim to by the end of this post delve into a book I am reading at the moment and recap a magical place and Beltane festival before the summer solstice. Also meeting the amazing Anna Franklin at the Staffordshire Pagan Conference which is an amazing day out for all.
Anna Franklin is an author of many subjects from hearth witch to shaman an has an amazing book on hand fasting also. Her talk on cunning folk and wise women was very interesting and well researched. I loved how she talked about every aspect of folk magic and it has inspired me to write more and learn the ways further.
Since my last blog I have been reading and writing more and also there was Beltane festivities.
Beltane is the time of year to welcome Bellinos and the sun god back to the land, to watch the seeds sprout and grow that were planted on the equinox and it is a festival of love union and fertility. Many folk practices from times past still exist today. The May queen is still picked in some villages and children dance around the maypole. Morris dancers dance to awaken the land anew ready for the crops to grow bountiful. I had my Beltane festivities with my coven and we had an amazing time with lots of magical things happening for us all.
As I mentioned earlier I am currently reading Graham King's book of British Charms and Spells and my what a fantastic book it is so far. Graham was the owner of the Museum of Witchcraft in Boscastle Cornwall for many years and has had access to such an extensive library on spells charms and the way of old for many years, thus so he has done a service and compiled a lovely small compendium of these spells and his life experiences of charms and how they have worked. Please if you want a copy you can buy one from his publishers website Troy Books.
After working many hours and being generally busy I have finally been to Glastonbury and the wells that reside there. The tor was beautiful and the chalice well gardens were magnificent. Raven and myself were captivated by the plethora of different people all pilgrims to the Isle of Avalon and whilst magically Glastonbury has had no pull for me it was indeed well worth the visit. My Favourite shop was The cat and the cauldron, simply because it was a treasure trove for the folk magic practitioner.
I do hope you have enjoyed this small but brief post and my next blog will be about charms and spells mentioned in Graham King's Book.
until then
Sigrid Skadi
